Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI)

Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit civic organisation dedicated to fostering socio-political change and community development in Nigeria, with a primary focus on equipping and empowering young people and local communities to drive sustainable development from the grassroots level.

BBYDI started as a student initiative on the campus of the University of Ilorin in 2014, and has grown into a women and youth-led NGO that advocates good governance, champions the Sustainable Development Goals, and promotes civic engagement across Nigeria. Over 100,000 youths have benefited from BBYDI's digital skills training in technology, science, and infrastructure.

Our Partnership

DIAF Communication and BBYDI share a deep alignment in mission, geography, and approach. Both organisations are rooted in Kwara and Osun States, both prioritise youth-led civic transformation, and both understand that lasting change requires community trust — not just programme delivery. Our partnership enables DIAF to leverage BBYDI's policy advocacy networks while BBYDI benefits from DIAF's media amplification and mobilisation infrastructure.

FactCheck Africa (FCA)

FactCheckAfrica is an independent fact-checking platform, legally registered as an entity under the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, incorporated under Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission. Its mission is to provide accurate, timely, and unbiased fact-check reports focused on electoral activities, issues in government, accountability in governance, climate, and conflicts in Africa.

FactCheckAfrica is committed to upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity and is guided by the five principles of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) — accuracy, integrity, ethics, transparency, and professionalism.

Our Partnership

DIAF Communication's partnership with FactCheck Africa is one of our most formative institutional relationships. Together, we have run information disorder campaigns across multiple locations in Oyo and Osun States, deploying gamification tools and community advocacy sessions to build media literacy among young people and community leaders. This collaboration positions DIAF as a frontline actor in Nigeria's fight against misinformation — not just as a publisher, but as an active counter-misinformation mobiliser at the community level.

Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF)

The Nigeria Youth Futures Fund is a response to an urgent need to provide technical and financial support to burgeoning youth-led movements in Nigeria, with the aim of sustaining their work and facilitating opportunities for learning. Seeded by LEAP Africa in partnership with MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, and Luminate Group.

The NYFF Project, initiated in 2021, is a five-year initiative dedicated to nurturing youth leadership and activism in Nigeria by fostering outcomes-driven policy engagements and inclusive resourcing for medium and long-term national development.
